On Friday, we sent 2 first year Rugby teams to Blackrock to compete in a blitz against established rugby schools like Blackrock, St Andrews, King’s Hospital and St Mary’s. With one Pat’s team in each group, the only way that the teams could play each other was if they both won all their group games and topped their respective groups. And that is exactly what happened. St Pats 2 (Classes I, C and K) beat their P, T, R counterparts in an absolutely thrilling final with Oisin Giles scoring 3 tries in the final. Overall it was a brilliant day out where all students played their first game in a St Pats Jersey, with the majority also playing their first ever Rugby Match. Thanks to TY students Conor Goodwin, Daniel Egan, Jack Shorten, Killian Heffernan, Daniel Heverin and Eoin Burke who acted as Mentors on the Day (as part of their Gaisce Award). Also thanks to Mr Jack Gallagher, Stephen O’Neill and Robbie Lailvaux who have helped in the coaching of these sides. Training continues Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and all new players are welcome.
