On Thursday the 26th of January St. Pat’s Junior team played a championship match vs Moate.The game threw in at 1 pm in Meath’s centre of excellence.The game started with an early point from Andrew Gormley.Moate struggled to get out with the kickout and the ball was won by David Donnelly from the kickout which he kicked into Ben Corkery who drove by his man and tapped it over the bar.Cian commons then won the next kickout and delivered the ball into Andrew Gormley who was fouled.The free kick was slotted over comfortably by Ben Corkery.St Pat’s defence was very strong and Moate just could not get through the defense.Sean Betson slotted into Centre half back for the first time this year and played brilliantly.Moate just could not get through the defence and therefore did not score in the first half.Whereas Andrew Gormley and Ben Corkery were running riot up the other end scoring with ease.The first half ended with the score 1-8 to 0-0.
The second half started and St. Pat’s picked up where they left off with Billy Smyth scoring a point and striking the post with a goal opportunity.Moate then got a free kick in front of their goals which they converted easily.But the Pats proved superior by winning the kickout and Ben scoring a goal.St. Pat’s did not let Moate out then and just kept scoring.St Pats then made subs with Tiarnan Black coming on and scoring 2-1.Full time was 6-14 to 0-2.
Overall it was an easy day at the office for St. Pat’s with the goalscorers being Andrew Gormley(1) Ben Corkery(2)David Donnelly(1)Tiarnan Black(2)
