TY’s attended the “Just 1 Life Programme” yesterday in The Solstice Arts Centre. This young driver awareness programme, aimed at transition years, was organised by the Rotary Club Navan in conjunction with Meath County Council. This Road Safety Awareness talk involved talks from the Garda Roads Policing Unit, The Ambulance Service, The Fire Service and the Trauma Unit from Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. The boys listened to first hand accounts of the trauma involved in road traffic collisions from a survivor with an acquired brain injury and from a father who’s 16 year old daughter was killed in a collision. The boys were left with a strong message on road safety – Speed, alcohol/drug use and use of mobile phones while driving can cause fatalities.
