Our U16 and U19 Basketball teams took on Dunshaughlin CC in the opening games of the league this week
Our U16 team were to come out on top of their fixture after a hard-fought win against a tough Dunshaughlin team. Our players found themselves 12 points behind at the end of the First Quarter but soon found their rhythm and pushed on to beat Dunshaughlin 55-50. The players ability to come from behind and secure the win is a testament to their positive attitude both on court during their games and in their training sessions
Our U19 team were to find themselves in a physically challenging game against a strong Dunshaughlin side and were unlucky in their efforts, being defeated on a scoreline of 58-50. The majority of our panel consists of 5th Year and TY students and the performance put in by such a young team is commendable.
The coaches and players would like to wish Dónal Smyth all the best and a speedy recovery as he undergoes surgery this week. He is an ever-present source of help and guidance both to his own team mates and our younger players and we are looking forward to seeing him back on court in the near future
